Norths Basketball Signs Championship Guard Taylor Wurtz for 2026 NBL1 East
Norths Basketball has secured the signing of American guard Taylor Wurtz ahead of the 2026 NBL1 East season.
Wurtz arrives as a reigning NBL1 East champion after playing a decisive role in last season’s title run. In the 2025 Grand Final she delivered 25 points, six rebounds and four assists in a dominant performance that helped seal the championship.
A former University of Wisconsin standout, Wurtz has built her professional reputation on consistency, versatility and preparation. At 183cm, she brings size in the backcourt, the ability to stretch the floor and a competitive edge that shows up in big moments.
What separates her is not just production, but process. Wurtz is known for her commitment to strength, conditioning and recovery, maintaining high standards that translate directly to performance.
Taylor Wurtz said:
“I’m so excited to be back in Sydney and very grateful for the opportunity to play for the Norths Bears!”
Eric Stephens, CEO, Norths Basketball said:
“Taylor is a pro in every sense. The way she prepares, the way she trains, the way she carries herself. She understands what it takes to perform and she does it consistently. That’s the standard we want at Norths.”
Wurtz will join the squad as preparations continue for the 2026 NBL1 East campaign.
A product of the University of Wisconsin (NCAA Division I), she left a lasting mark on one of the nation’s premier college programs.
She ranks top 3 all-time in 3-point field goals made, top 10 all-time in career rebounds, and sits top 20 all-time in points - a testament to her versatility and impact on both ends of the floor.
Following her collegiate career, she built an impressive professional résumé, competing across eight countries worldwide, including Spain, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Israel, Sweden, Mexico and Australia.
Her consistency and elite performance earned her four first team all-league selections, recognised in:
Sweden (Basketligan)
Germany (DBBL)
Israel (Ligat Ha’Al)
Luxembourg
Across every league and level, she has demonstrated the ability to lead, perform and win on the international stage.
