OFFICIALS

LEARN TO BE A REFEREE

Who we are

The Norths Officiating Program is one of the most progressive and innovative in Australian basketball, with our referees officiating in more than 10,500 games in the local competition each year. Norths has a strong commitment to the provision of quality officials for all games played and invests significantly in the ongoing education and development of all officials we have actively involved in the association.

How we OPERATE

The NSBA Officials Program is coordinated by Jake Jennings, a representative referee and referee coach by trade, who leads program initiatives, chairs both the NSBA Officials Committee and the Norths Education Team (NET), manages rostering across domestic and junior representative competitions, and oversees administrative and compliance requirements. He works alongside Logan Bilby, Officials Program Manager (Referee College of Australia), to deliver structured education aligned with the Basketball Australia National Curriculum, through both in-person and video-based referee coaching. The program is overseen by Competitions and Officials Manager, Vance Abreu, who collaborates closely with Jake and Logan to ensure key performance indicators are achieved and continuous improvement is maintained.
