
2009 Age Head Coach Announcement.
Congratulations to the following coaches who have been appointed as Age Head Coach for 2009. Thank you to all the coaches who applied.
18 Girls – John Mant - John's most recent coaching accomplishments include Norths Age Head Coach 2008 Under 18 Women, Norths Grand Finalist Under 18 Division 1 girls 2008 BNSW State Championships, 2006 Norths ABA Mens Assistant Coach, and has coached Girls Representative basketball in the 14's, 16's and 18's girls age groups for the past 4 years. John has recently commenced his Level 2 coaching course and is looking to once again take the 18 girls to the finals in 2009.
16 Girls – Danny Martinez - Danny is probably the most experienced coach in Norths Junior Rep program with over 25 years of coaching experience! Danny's experiences ranges from USA colleges and high schools to winning Norths first ever state championship in the 12's age group. Danny's maintains that it is his focus is to create a positive environment for the team, the parents and for all the people he is around when coaching at Norths.
14 Girls – Michael Stokes - Michael has been coaching at Norths since 2001. In his time Michael has won championships, coached at BNSW Development and Blue Star Camps, and lend his hand towards educating and organising coaching courses for future coaches at Norths. Michael is looking forward to developing the great talent, both player and coaches, that Norths has to offer in the 14's girls age group.
12 Girls – Dean McLeod - Dean is back, bigger and better than ever! Dean coached the under 12 Girls division one side to a Sydney championship in 2008 and has over 10 years of coaching experience at representative level. Dean also loves coaching in Norths Development Programs over the year commiting much of his time to scouting new talent. Dean states he is committed, enthusiastic and excited for season 2009!
18 Boys – Ernest Nzigamasabo - After playing college basketball in the US and professional basketball both in Australia and abroad, Ernest turned his hand towards coaching and it has been quite a journey. Luckily for Norths, he decided to coach at Rooftop and the rest is history., Ernest has helped guide Norths great young talent to a lot of short term success. In 2007, Ernest became the first NSW coach to win the Big trifecta for the under 16 boys age group (the Sydney, State and National Championship in on year). In 2009 he is now reunited with much of that same group from 2007 and is looking forward to emulating some of that success.
16 Boys – Tony Naar - Tony is a Junior Bears icon and has been involved with Bears Representative and Domestic basketball since 1996. Tony has won numerous Sydney and State championships in his time, not to mention helping numerous other coaches with their teams. After coaching the 12 Boys in 2008, Tony has now turned his focus to the 16 Boys in 2009 with a renewed pashion to try an emulate the success of the Norths 2007 and 2008 teams. Tony was also once the High performance manager for Basketball Australia with responsibility for overseeing all Australian National Team Programs from 1995 to 1997.
14 Boys – Ian Boreham - After a successful year coaching girls in the 18's age group last year, Ian has decided to make the switch to Boys in 2009. Ian previous experience includes coaching in the UK National Junior League competition for the under 16 age group in 2006 to 2008 before moving to Australia. Ian is currently completing his level 2 course is excited about of coaching the 14 Boys age group.
